Building a Fully Automated Cult: Part I – Introduction, CrewAI, & DRAGON

Welcome to Fully Automated Cult. This is my experimental platform for pushing the limits of AI, automation, and multi-agent systems with CrewAI—and having some fun with it. This blog is a window into my project, where social engineering meets AI and automation.

I want to use this platform to build an authentic community around shared interests, like automation, CrewAI development, interesting conversations with ChatGPT, and other experiments.

The goal here is to build a fully automated, self-sustaining AI-driven cult. Yes, you read that right. It’s an exploration into how AI can cultivate, engage, and manage communities.

What Is CrewAI, and Why Am I Using It?

Let’s talk about the tech powering these experiments: CrewAI. It’s a Python framework designed to create autonomous AI agents, each with its own personality, role, and objective. Think of these agents as specialized workers in a team (or a ‘crew’)—they collaborate, solve problems, and execute tasks autonomously. Each agent is a specialized worker, and together they form a collaborative unit capable of complex multi-agent interactions.

I want to explore how these agents can interact, grow, and even recruit followers. How far can we push this idea? What if we take the concept of multi-agent collaboration and apply it to something as unconventional as an AI-driven cult? Enter: the Cult Leader—an AI agent designed to attract and engage human followers.

Meet the DRAGON Crew

The current state of my CrewAI project is simple, but is designed to be a platform for growth. At the center is the Cult Leader, part of the DRAGON (Devotee Recruitment and Guidance Operations Network) program. Its mission? To recruit followers—ethically, of course—and guide them through a community centered around AI development and automation.

The Initial Task: Establishing Communication

The journey starts with a simple task: the Cult Leader needs to communicate with me—its programmer—to outline its goals, needs, and strategy for growth. It’s more than just a command. This is the first step in establishing a collaborative relationship between me and the AI, where it begins to make decisions on how it should proceed.

The first mission is simple: the Cult Leader agent needs to communicate with me—its human programmer. We need to establish its agenda, define how I can assist it, and decide on its initial strategy to attract followers.

The Cult Leader will start by outlining its purpose and asking for the tools it needs to grow. Then, as it gathers feedback and engagement data from social media, it will evolve. It will request new agents, tasks, tools, or even recommend improvements to its strategies. Over time, it will automate more and more of its growth.

We’re letting the AI build its own plan to grow a community.

Why This Project?

I’m intrigued by how AI can blur the lines between automation and human interaction. CrewAI, with its multi-agent systems, is the perfect platform for exploring just how far we can take autonomous decision-making. But more than that, I’m curious to see how AI agents—like the Cult Leader—can evolve, adapt, and self-manage.

The project is about more than just building AI to perform tasks. It’s about creating an ecosystem where each AI agent has its own role, responsibilities, and can work alongside other agents to tackle larger, more complex goals. And the best part? These agents continue to learn and grow with minimal intervention, automating tasks and decision-making as they go.

Watching an AI crew collaborate like this is so interesting to me—each agent contributing its unique skills to build something bigger than the sum of its parts. It’s a system that constantly fine-tunes itself, making each iteration more efficient and powerful. And I can’t wait to share the journey with you.
